Joseph Dana is a writer and filmmaker living in Jerusalem. He has two Master’s degrees in Jewish History, one from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and one from the Central European University in Budapest. Dana’s work focuses on the Palestinian unarmed resistence movements throughout the West Bank and the impact of Israel’s occupation on Palestinian life. He often draws on his knowledge of Jewish history to understand Israel’s current political/social situation and relationship to the Palestinians in the longue duree of the Jewish people. He is a contributing editor of the Israeli web magazine +972 and assists the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee. Dana is active in Israeli direct action groups such as Taayush and the Anarchists Against the Wall.

    Thank you for all of your posts! My husband and I seem to be on a never ending quest to educate ourselves and others on this issue. With all that is going on in the world even in our own backyard, this remains at the top of our concerns. Aside from wanting to see lasting peace and justice, so much of what goes on in the world seems to be influenced by what is happening in Israel and Palestine. It helps a lot to hear from someone who is there in person. Even if the news is not all ways the happiest, it is nice to have video, pictures, etc. that I can send to people to say “look this is the reality.” I am assuming that it is not all that easy to be in Israel or the West Bank, and then on top of that if you are Jewish to stand up against the status quo. I hope that you will correct me if I am wrong on that.

    Dear Joseph & Mairav: I’m really impressed with your coverage of the situation in the Holy Land and with the Ta’ayoush intiative. Too bad I missed the opportunity to meet you guys in Jerusalem when I visited for the first time last month. It was an amazing experience for me to visit my country as a Palestinian/Jordanian living in Amman and a very strong believer of a one state solution as an end to this crazy conflict.
